Hundreds of POW camps, branch camps, work details, hospitals, and temporary holding facilities operated throughout Japanese-occupied territory during World War II. Some are well documented, while the histories of others remain incomplete or difficult to find.
Which POW camp would you like this community to investigate?
Perhaps your father, grandfather, or another relative was imprisoned there. Maybe you have photographs, letters, diaries, camp records, maps, or a family story connected with it. Or perhaps you have encountered a camp in your research that raises more questions than answers.
Tell us the name and location of the camp, if known, and why you believe it deserves further research. If you are researching a POW who was held there, please include his name and any dates you know.
The goal is not simply to discuss these camps, but to gradually bring together POW rosters, photographs, maps, archival records, survivor accounts, and family histories that may currently be scattered among archives and private collections.
If several members share an interest in the same camp, we can establish a dedicated research topic and begin reconstructing its history together.
