Welcome to the Hellships Research Forum
This community was established by the Hellships Memorial Foundation to bring together former POW families, descendants, historians, researchers, museums, veterans’ organizations and others committed to preserving the history of Allied prisoners of war transported aboard Japanese POW transport ships during World War II.
Our purpose is more than discussion. We hope this forum becomes a permanent collaborative research resource where photographs, documents, family histories, archival discoveries and unanswered questions can be shared and preserved.
If you are searching for information about a family member who was a prisoner of war, we especially welcome you. You do not need to be a historian or researcher. Tell us what you know, even if it is only a name, and members of the community may be able to help.
We ask everyone to approach these subjects with respect for the POWs, their families and the historical record.
They are no longer forgotten.
